An average life of a desktop pc on my desk is 3 years, so its almost time I upgrade, In the past I never could upgrade the pc to the fullest extent I wanted but this time I plan to, if not really power up to the hardware money could buy but at least to my satisfaction. I must admit even the 3 year old pentium d is doing fine after adding a 2gb ready boost drive but it wont do any good for gaming.
I was interested in ddr3 memory module but after watching this video, and looking at this voodo pc I thought may b ddr2 memory is better but wth? power supply 350w and an external one 
. that was a no no. so I found the urge finally to build one my self. hence I chose this one power supply for my soon to be machine.

I read AMD processors do good on gaming but for some reason I prefer intel. so one thing is for sure I am going to buy an intel core i7, I had to decide between 2 mother boards, one was

since I was going to use nvidia I preferred evga mother board as it was reviewed having better support for sli (more than one graphic card) I am thinking to buy evga gtx 280 and to upgrade it to dual sli later on.
the older pentium d I have back at home has 2 hard drives, one from dell and I added one later on for storage. I plan to do the same but with different prospective. I am adding a 15000 rpm hard drive for the OS installation and another 1 TB hard drive for rest of the stuff. I might upgarde it to 10000 rpm one.
at the end I am only stuck at which chassis to chose. I want a liquid cooling system for my processor and vga. so far I dont see any for i7 as i7 is a LGA1366 socket while all of the chasis at thermaltake support LGA775 sockets. also I still have to find out what hard drive is better raid or sata. any help or suggestion is much appreciated.
Update: I have made my mind, I m buying H20-220 Apex Ultima Plus cooling system and Cooler Master HAF 932 Chassis. Also I think I am adding SATA drives. but am still open, I didnt cross the help or suggestion line
